Boys and Girls Club of Goshen - Hunger and Wellness Collaboration

The Boys and Girls Club of Goshen has focused their strategic planning for the coming year on hunger and wellness.

While building on the success of prior staff and youth wellness initiatives, they plan to expand the food service capacity and improve access to fresh produce.  They are also planning to install an edible garden to promote food literacy and provide produce for their kitchen.

With respect to the Rebuilding Your Local Food System program, this initiative represents an opportunity to help a key community stakeholder model the types of community food systems connections we hope to help facilitate on a broader scale.  In particular, it could pave the way for exploring the concepts of edible schoolyards and farm to school initiatives for better connecting our Elkhart County school systems to local providers and distribution networks.
