On Sunday July 20th and Monday the 21st, Church Community Services partnered with the Elkhart County 4-H Fair to take on the challenge of collecting 560,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Elkhart County.
Businesses, families, charities, and 4-H groups all pitched in with labor and food in an attempt to reach this World Record goal.
The Elkhart County 4-H Fair All In Food Drive raised 46,962 lbs. of food in 24 hours. CCS might not have broken the world record, but they broke a record of their own! It generated more food than any other food drive to date for the Food Bank of Elkhart County.
Without food drives put on by various organizations, the Food Bank would not be able to offer as much food to local pantries and hot meal sites. During the summer, a slight rise in need is common as school meal programs are not in operation.
